Komala Menon, popularly known as Neyyattinkara Komalam, passed away on October 17 at the age of 96 while undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Parassala.

Komalam was celebrated as the first heroine of Prem Nazir. She began her film career with the movie Vanamala, released during the early years of Malayalam cinema. She later appeared in films such as Atmasanthi, Sandehi, and Newspaper Boy. Notably, when Prem Nazir entered the film industry with Marumakal, it was Komalam's third film. Miss Kumari was her co-artist in Atmasanthi.
