Mulund, September 21: The vibrant festival of Vishwa Onasalsvam 2025 unfolded with great enthusiasm and joy, uniting the community in a day of tradition, fun, and togetherness. The event, held on Sunday, turned into a memorable celebration filled with cultural activities, laughter, and heartfelt connections.

From the intricate Pookalam designs that adorned the venue to the lively Vadamvali (Tug-of-War) and Uriyadi competitions, the day was packed with energy and excitement. Participants of all ages enthusiastically joined in T-shirt Art, Clay Art, and Ola Art workshops, showcasing their creativity and cultural pride. A health check-up camp added a thoughtful touch to the festivities, emphasizing well-being alongside celebration.

The spirit of Onam was truly alive as the community came together to celebrate not just tradition but also unity and joy. The organizers expressed heartfelt gratitude to all participants, volunteers, and supporters who contributed to making Vishwa Onasalsvam 2025 a grand success and a day to remember.

Vishwa Onasalsvam 2025 Brings Community Together in Grand Celebration

The Malayalam drama Bhasmanchal, written by social activist and founder of Maharani, Mohan Nair, will be staged today at 7 p.m. at Vishnudas Bhave Natya Gruha, Vashi. The play focuses on the behavioural patterns of children towards their parents.

The drama aims to create a positive impact on the youth, says writer Mohan Nair. It is directed by Harshal Rane.

The Maharashtra Chapter of the Indo-Gulf and Middle East Chamber of Commerce (INMEC) has announced its new office bearers for the year. Dr. P. J. Aprain has been elected President, V. S. Abdul Kareem as Vice President, Thomas Olikkal as Secretary, Harikumar Menon as Treasurer, and P. T. Sureshkumar as Committee Member.

A. N. Shaji, Baby John, Malbin Victor, and M. K. Nawas have been appointed to the Managing Committee. Dr. Sureshkumar, a Mumbai-based entrepreneur, has been re-elected as Global Secretary of INMEC.

Formed in 2020, INMEC is an organization of industrialists and professionals that connects various economic, industrial, and commercial bodies across India and the Middle East. It has branches in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Delhi, the UAE, Oman, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait, informed Secretary Thomas Olikkal.

The Thane Vrindavan Kairali Cultural Association celebrated Onam with great enthusiasm last week. President M. R. Sudhakaran, Secretary P. K. Ramesan, and Treasurer B. Prasad, along with committee members, jointly lit the traditional lamp to inaugurate the festivities. The event commenced with a prayer by Siddhija Ramesh.

Under the leadership of Shalini Prasad, members of the women’s wing — Rajani Balakrishnan, Vanaja Sreekumar, Meera Jinachandran, Smita Menon, Jaya Vijayakumar, Swapna Ramachandran, Shilna Pragit, Ramya Ravikumar, and Vinita Anil — presented Kaikottikali and a traditional folk dance. Sasikumar Menon appeared as Mahabali, while K. R. J. Nair, Balakrishnan, Prasad, Mohan Menon, Suresh, and E. Ramachandran, under the leadership of K. M. Suresh, performed a fusion and farmers’ dance.

Songs were rendered by Anagha, Ramesh, Abhinav, Narayanan, Anila, Swati, Siddhija, and Adwaita, while Alissa Bibin and Asha Srikrishnan presented captivating dance performances. The celebration concluded with a sumptuous Onam feast served to all members and participants.

Thane Vrindavan Kairali Cultural Association Celebrates Onam with Grandeur

The Dombivli Keraleeya Samajam, Asia’s largest Malayali collective, will host a Literary Evening on October 12 at its office premises in the Shubham Karoti Building, Baji Prabhu Chowk, near Dombivli East. Renowned writer and literary activist Meghanadan will present his stories at the event.

E. P. Vasu, President of the Samajam, will preside over the function, while writer C. P. Krishnakumar will attend as the Special Guest and main speaker. Writers and enthusiasts of Malayalam literature are expected to participate, informed K. K. Suresh, Secretary.

Dombivli Keraleeya Samajam to Host Literary Evening on October 12

Odakkuzhal, the social organization of Marol Malayalees, will celebrate Onam on October 5  Sunday at 10:30 a.m. at the Marol Education Academy School premises. Following the Onam feast, a cultural gathering will be held, presided over by President K. V. Satyanath. On this occasion, his book titled Great Poets of Malayalam will be released. The first copies will be received by M/s Vellodi Balachandran, V. Sivaramakrishnan, P. R. Krishnan, C. P. Krishnakumar, Prof. Geeta Vijayasankar, and P. V. Vijaykumar.

The celebrations will also feature cultural events, including classical and folk dances, songs, and other performances.
